Working process

MENIA RESTAURACIÓN & PATRIMONIO

In Menia Restoration and Heritage, we attend conservation of the artwork to be involved as a priority, clearly defining the treatment according to international conservation standards way.

The treatments applied will be stable, reversible and do not alter its original appearance.

They justify each of the interventions depending on the state of conservation, historical development, characteristics of the object, use, location, etc., especially reintegration treatments.

Actions on support will attend the minimum intervention criteria necessary to ensure the stability of the different layers that make up the object. Structural reinstatements will be justified in terms of the pursuit of stability of the work must be identified and documented. The materials used are selected according to the original materials, ensuring a perfect communion between them and without that may affect its future development.

Iconographic reinstatements will be justified, documented and must be clearly identifiable and without illusionists reactions. Materials used in the realisation are reversible and identification techniques will be adapted to same plastic characteristics of the work.

  • First contact

The first thing we do when a client contact us is to visit the piece of work in order to know it, document it and analyse it. During this visit, our personalised behaviour will benefit the comprehensive study of the work with the aim of providing a treatment proposal according to the diagnosis.

  • Proposal

The next step is to offer the client a treatment proposal, work stages, budget and deadline. We also inform of restoration criteria we will follow and our way of working at the workshop or at home.
All these steps are free of charge and bring no any obligation.

  • In the workshop…

At the workshop: Our work will depend on the piece to be restored, the piece of work establishes the treatment we are going to carry out according to results obtained in the diagnosis and tests performed.

We use the appropriate materials for each intervention, respect the original features of the work and ensure materials are durable and reversible.

  • Delivery

This is the best moment: When an artwork is finished and we are pleased with the result. However we cannot describe what we feel when we see the faces of our clients pleased with our work. In many occasions, the artistic or historic value of the piece of work is not as important as the emotional value of its owner.
